To celebrate and continue bringing awareness to the public the NDCPD brought “Handicap This” to the Minot State University campus.
Handicap This is a performance of two men, Tim Wambach and Mike Berkson speaking on the value of inclusion, challenging bullying and the power of diversity.
They describe themselves as two friends from Chicago with a distinct difference.
“(Tim Wambach,Handicap This!)”Mike has cerebral palsy.
(Mike Berkson, Handicap This!)” Tim does not…”
Their friendship has grown and so has their message.
A compilation of humor, crowd interaction and real life drama.
(Tim Wambach, Handicap This!”I look at it as I want people to walk out of the theater and see the person, not the disability, not the wheelchair but the individual”
(Mike Berkson)”I also want those with disabilities to feel empowered because I took all the quote unquote “negative stuff” and turn it into something positive.
The NDCPD will wrap up their week long anniversary celebration tomorrow at the Dakota Square Mall from 11 to 2.
Faculty and staff will be sharing information about the center and its projects as well as offering disability awareness activities.
